Students with Special Needs
  • The Town of Guilderland operates a six week summer day camp program for children with special needs. Campers enjoy the camp setting in Tawasentha Park which includes outdoor recreational activities, sports, academic skills and social activities.
  • Campers must be residents and recommended to participate through the Guilderland School District.

General Information
  • Open to children age 5 (children entering Kindergarten in the fall) to 13 years of age.
  • Enrollment is limited and based on first come, first serve basis for Guilderland residents only.
  • Pre-registration required by filling out the form and returning to Parks & Recreation office or registering on-line. IMMUNIZATION INFORMATION REQUIRED.
  • Registration should include a payment of $150 per camper per two week session.
  • A written note must explain any special medical or transportation needs. (Please fill out all immunization information.)
  • Program is a half day starting on June 30, 2014 and ending on August 8, 2014.
  • There will be NO CAMP on Friday, July 4th, 2014!
  • Transportation is provided by bus to campers with the first pick-up at approximately 7:30 a.m. and drop-off at approximately noon. Please see bus information within this brochure. Transportation available from 6/30/14-8/8/14 only.
  • Summer Camp area is located at the Tawasentha Park Pavilion (some activities will require travel to school playgrounds or other areas).
  • Children will be placed in groups upon arrival according to grade level.
  • Campers are supervised by counselors, and every 45 minutes they will change activities.
  • Campers will stay with the same counselors and group throughout their session.
  • A certified EMT or nurse is on duty at all times. Parents will be called if necessary.
  • Snacks are not provided but campers are allowed to bring their own (no peanuts).
  • We recommend that you keep your children home on rainy days: however, camp will remain open with alternate activities available.
  • Inclement weather, call 456- 3475. On rainy days, campers may be bussed to the school gyms.
  • The camp is inspected by the Albany County Health Department located on South Ferry and Green Streets in Albany. Reports and plans may be obtained through the Health Department or at the Guilderland Town Hall.
  • The Town reserves the right to limit participation based on behavior of campers and will not provide a refund. A refund will also not be provided once the camper’s registered session begins.

Swim Lessons
  • Campers may take a swimming lesson as part of camp at no extra charge but must indicate so on registration form.
  • Due to limited space, there is a limit of one 2-week swim lesson session per camper.
  • Please indicate swimming level.

  • Swim classes will be assigned by the camp directors and will take place during the 8:45 a.m. and 9:15 a.m.time periods.
  • IMPORTANT: When registering for camp with swim lessons you do not need to register for camp too!
  • There will be no camp on Friday, July 4th.
